Low voltage problem

I have a low voltage problem with all my dc stuff. all outside lights work but headlights are very dim. voltage measures between 6-7 volts at headlights. radio, wipers etc won't work with lights on. brand new batteries today. any ideas? it is a 99 class a thanks

Start with the basics......

Clean/tight cables connections, cables on correct battery posts, clean/tight ground connection and batteries properly connected (2 ---12V in parallel) etc.

Check the voltage by using a long jumper wire from the voltmeter directly to the battery for the ground and then the positive at the positive terminal of the headlights with the headlights on . If the voltage is low you have a problem on the positive side. Next check for voltage on the ground side of the headlights with the headlights on. If you show more than .5v you have a ground problem.

Look for a smaller offshoot wire on the negative cable. It should go to chassis ground point.

If you don't see one that's been left off or broke, use a jumper cable to troubleshoot. Clip it on the negative post and to a not so rusty part of the body sheet metal.
