we have a brand new 2008 fleetwood discovery 40x and have low water pressue when on the pump only and when hooked to city water only. I undertand that my external pressure regulator could be affecting my city water pressure, but in my last 2 coachs the pump always provided good shower pressure and in this one it just better than a sprinkle, with the shower turned on full the pump runs and stops runs and stops and never runs constantly like you would think it would havet to to provide good flow and pressure. Any help would be appreciated

First, welcome to iRV2 . Home of the best forums on the web!

We had so-so water pressure in our Bounder from the start & it got steadily worse as the season progressed. I blamed it on the filter in the whole coach water system. That thing plugged up very quickly. We were only a few months into using it that first season & it was almost completely clogged with debris (a lot, I suppose, from new construction particles). I have heard & read the same from other Fleetwood owners. We're still trying to find just the right filter insert that will do it's job without restricting flow so much.

The best pressure we found, for us, was to leave the filter out completely; but, that isn't the best solution for the system, especially when you can never be sure of the water quality you might hook up to at a campground.

How do you like your 40x? If I were in the market now, that would be the layout I'd want. I like a fully enclosed bath (so you aren't trapped in or out of the bedroom if a guest happens to be using the bath) & the mid-ship tv on the curb side (other mfr's have it on the driver's side & you have to look past the dinette in order to view it) with a center living area.

Enjoy your new toy! Safe travels!

Have you checked the areators on the faucets? FOr the pump side be sure to check the strainer on the pump or the hoses to sure thwy are not pinched. Also a loose fitting will cause it to suck air but should leak as well. Let us know what you find.

Thanks, I will try it without the filter element to see if pressure increases.

As to the 40X, so far it exceeds our expectations, we spent 3 days at the Los Angeles RV show in october and looked at everything and could not get away from this floor plan, we too like the enclosed bath, the mid ship television and even more so the 2 recliners oposite the sofa. After a 1 week trip in sub freezing wheather so far there are only 2 problems, the water pressure and the cd in the indash radio does not work, pretty good from what I see others dealing with on far more expensive coaches.

Don,
If you find the water filter was the problem, consider making a water filter bypass. My whole coach filter will clog very quickly. A visit to Lowes or Home depot got me the parts. Now, if I am on municipal water, I bypass the filter. Any other water source and I have the filter returned to inline with the water source. All I do is turn 2 valves to use or bypass the filter. My coach has had this for two years and so far everything is okay.
