i'm hoping someone can explain the various settings.
switch...charger....on/off.....does anyone actually turn the charger off while running. or when would you.

switch...inverter...on/off.....when plugged into shore is there any benefit to turning this off.

switch....shore power...this has a "charging" notice and a shore power rating you can change....50a, 30a,etc...does anybody really change this thing when they hook up.

i guess my real question is...is this entire center a "passive" item that you set up and forget or should you be actively changing settings.

if passive....what limits to set?

I would leave it. If you don't have any shore power the charger simply won't do anything. No eason to have to switch it off.

Same thing here. The inverter has a built-in automatic transfer switch. If it sees 120 VAC from short power or the generator it will simply pass the power through to the outlets and utilize the incoming AC to go into the battery charging mode. Once the AC power goes away it'll automatically switch over to inverter mode and utilize the batteries to "make" AC power. It'll also switch off the battery charger mode. It's all automatic so the only time to switch it off is when in storage or if you really need to conserve battery power while you are gonme and can live without AC power.

I don't bother. The only reason to turn it down is so that the inverter/charger can limit the battery charge rate to allow more AC power to supply the outlets. I've never had to worry about that myself but if you were on say a 20 amp circuit and the battery charger was drawing too much youmight want to set it lower to allocate more power to your AC devices, such as a microwave.

It's pretty much a passive device unless you get into extreme situations. Then you have the flexibility to manually modify those settings.

if passive....what limits to set?

Whatever the default settings are.
Hope that helps.

Agree with Mark.

By the way, turning the inverter off does NOT affect charging. The charger portion is always active if shore power or generator is available.

You probably have a parameter to set for your battery bank size, typically some number of amp hours. You should make sure that is set close as possible to the aggregate number of amp hours for whatever batteries you have installed. The factory should have done so, but...

I've turned down the max shore power amps when I was plugged in to a 15A circuit in my brother's driveway. Otherwise I leave it alone.
