Bought a 2008 Jayco Melbourne 31c with 7000 miles on it. Got in July 2015 and the company said that the vehicle had been all inspected and thanks had been sanitized. Now went on five little trips around the area and then place it in heated storage area until March, what kind of inspection if any should I have done before starting and does my drinking water tank have to be sanitize every year

Since I completely drain my water tanks when I winterize there is minimal chance of having a problem but when I put the rig back in service I usually put ~10 gallons of water in the tank with ~ cup of bleach and pump through all the lines and let it sit for a couple days before filling the tank completely up. If the water you use to fill your coach is from a utility it is chlorinated also which adds another level of sanitizing the coach's system.

And what did the company do to back up their word? Unless I'm dealing with someone I normally see sitting across the table at Thanksgiving, I believe nothing of what they say, ever, and certainly don't bet my family's health and the health of that big new purchase on words backed up by nothing. Sanitize the tank and system yourself, and just assume, unless you have proof to the contrary, that every maintenance item is overdue.

And congrats on your purchase. An 08 with 7000 miles is quite a find. We bought an 06 with 15k, thought we got a sleeper but you beat us. My biggest fear is the lack of use could mean lack of maintenance and sure enough, we still had the factory oil filter on our Cat! We bought a bumper-to-bumper 5 yr, zero deductible warrenty of $5k to help alieviate that worry, and zero timed the rig; engine, tranny and generator fluids and filters, steering fluid, jack fluid, even changed the windshield fluid because I didn't know if it would freeze. Took alot of beer and alot of time, but DIY saved alot of $$, and allowed me to get to know my new rig. Best of luck and enjoy!
