master-lift problem

master-lift 34-110 is the "shock absorber" type cylinder that activates when we lift or close the bed. we have a center pole with a secure open position then the master lift attached to the mattress base and the side of the bed frame.
anyhow, this thing keeps ripping the mounting brackets off the bed frame.
removed the unit and i can hardly depress it. this thing is strong way beyond what i would logically deem necessary.
has anyone run into this problem.
thanks
bob

the "110" in the part number is the psi rating of the piston, so no wonder you can't compress it by hand.

Sounds like the wood of the bed frame is too soft for the stress. Had that problem with a 96 Southwind we owned some tears back. Can you bolt it through the side? Or maybe glue a hardwood block to the bed frame and screw the supports into that.

master-lift problem

Thanks Gary.
After a little research I figured out that the model number related to the pressure.
I'm sort of thinking I might get 2 of about 50# and put one one each side of the frame. This would still give me the 100# and be a lot less stress on the frame.
Thanks
Bob

Stay with the 100+ pound units or you won't be able to lift the bed easily but reinforce the wood with a piece of aluminum - possibly a piece of angle iron.
I don’t have a picture of my modification but could take one if you need it.
