MCD Shade Question

I just ordered MCD window shades for my entire RV. A buddy of mine has a new coach that came from the factory with them. He told me that he loves them but they rattle while going down the road. The solid pull-down sections knock up against the metal frame of the windows. I contacted MCD and they are aware of this problem. I was told to apply one inch strips of Velcro to the back of the shade pulls to cushion the noise. I told them for the money I paid, THEY should be doing this or something similar, specially since they know it's a common problem. They had no reply.

Those of you that have MCD's, does the Velcro solve this problem?

Thanks.

Craig

It did solve the noise, but of course the shades still hit against the window frames.

We installed our MCDs in our coach, ours came with rubber on the window frames that was there to stop the origanal shades from rattling. Used the velcro next to the driver with success.

Thanks. Did you guys affix Velcro at the corners of the pull-down or all the way across?

I just did it where it would hit the driverside window frame.

After we equipped our coach with MCD shades I applied adhesive backed felt strips to the back edges of the shades. I bought a piece of adhesive backed felt and cut my own strips about two inches long and placed them according to where the shade would touch the metal window frame. Works great, no rattles. I put the strips on the back edges of both the solar day shade and the night shade to avoid them rattling against themselves.

foam tape works also. Found in the weatherstrip section of most stores. I stick them on the back side of the bottom bar of each (day / night) shade. They will cushion the blow at any raised/lowered height.

MCD has quite an attitude towards a customer AFTER they own the product. Wait till you have a warranty claim

I have a great invention if someone wants to steal the idea. The ends of the MCD shade have a cap with a raised edge. If you can picture an inside out rubber grommet, it could be installed over the cap end and stop any banging. I don't know why MCD hasn't offer something like it. You could sell them in packs of 10 in black and tan.

I had my MCD shades installed at their factory in Texas, a year and a half ago. At the time of install they provided me with anti rattle felt pads, which I have never had to use. After MCD I would never again want a coach with the pleated day night shades, DW & I love them.

Yep, I put the Velcro loop side on mine. Strips about 2" long. Strange I came up with that on my own.

MCD does have a customer service issue in my opinion. While in Quartzsite, I had an issue with the adjustment of some of my shades. I asked the person at the MCD booth about the problem. His response was to call the dealer. No help at all. I love the shades, but there are other vendors with similar products. Next time, if ever, maybe buy another brand.
