Is not dbl faced tape. Look's very similar to duct tape. Has aluminum appearance similar to aluminum wheels on non sticky side. That's why I missed it at installation, it look's like my wheel. The tape holds down the weights which are about 5" long comprised of individual weights of maybe 3/4 X 3/4 X 1/8". Will be calling the michelin installer but want to be better prepared to discuss. Is this standard/legit or elcheapo? Think I'll call Mike Cody from Camp Freightliner, he's a smart guy. Maybe he knows. Thanks to you all.

I have aluminum wheels that came with stick-on weights and after a couple of trips some weights came off. I switched to the internal balancing system and have had no problems since, however most Michelins can be driven without weights until wear changes them.

Just talked to Michelin customer service who says this is one of the accepted methods of balancing. The tape is cosmetic and not necessary because the weights are magnetized and/or have sticky back. They opened/documented a customer inquiry complaint for future reference for a warranty claim in the event the weights fail. I guess I'm done, wish I felt better about all of this.

Not to make you worry, but I would not be comfortable with your situation. If you don't know if and when one falls off you will only know they failled after the shimmy and shaking starts or when the tires start to cup.
I'd be looking for an internal balancing product real soon.
