Michelin blow out

The only Tires that I have heard of giving any proplem are the 235/80R22.5 XRV These tires were make for RV's

Today a Michelin Rep. called the dealer that had my 2 tires, Michelin said they would give 80% valvue of Retail cost of these tires. Michelin said that the other tires were good and they could not adjust them unless they show a fault in them.

Sounds like they treated you fair, what is your opinion? 80% is a lot better then nothing, especially when it takes a scientist to figure it out.
How many miles did you have on the tires? Did they give you any advice on the others and what you should do or look for?

The Michelin XPS series tire in the 16" sizes has given excellent service. Many of us who have had bad experience with other brands (including Goodyear) in 5th wheel applications went to the Michelin XPS Rib and solved our tire problems.

Having said that, our new 5th wheel (see signature) came with LT235/85R-16G (load range G) Goodyear G614RST Unisteel radials. No problems so far, even in 100+ degF Texas weather, but time will tell.

Yes I am satified with the 80%. The Tires had 24,100 Hy. Miles on them with only 3/32 tread wore off them.
I ask Michelin about the 4 others on trading them in on some XZE'S but the could not. Michelin said the others would be ok, but in my mind when will the next one go????

Jim,
I would go see a lawyer. The first visit is free and you can get a letter to Michelin for around $150 from an attorney. I did this on a GM car I was having trouble with and just telling the dealer I had seen a attorney I got what I wanted without the letter. It cost me nothing. The dealer was going to do nothing until I told them I had talked with a attorney.

I would have consider this if Michelin had not done anything with first tires, if I have anymore problem I might do that or if one blowes out and damages something on the motorhome Jim

I made the switch from XRVs to the Goodyear 670 RV tires. Went a little larger too. You will notice better handling, less rock and roll sway. Could be because of more rubber on the road or more steel in the sidewall. The goodyears are rated "H" as compared to the "G" rating from the XRV tires. I also bit the bullet and bought the PressurePro tire monitoring system. Monitors tires on the fly. It is slick and they are great folks to work with. Love the whole new tire set up.

I'll second Lew's take on this. I switched out all 6 of my 235/80R22.5 XRV's about a year ago, for the superior Goodyear G670RV in the size of 275/70R22.5. Those are 1.1" wider, but have the same loaded radiur as the Michelins, and are a much heavier-duty tire but do not ride stiff like a truck tire. They are an RV-specific tire, with an "H" load rating as opposed to the XRV's "G" rating. They are made to work as a direct replacement, and I couldn't be more pleased with them.

Thanks for the info. on Goodyears, I am looking at the G169 with the H rating. Has anyone tried these tires. It is a good looking tire, & Goodyear has got it listed for Rvs.also.

The blowout problems with the 235 tire may explain why Michelin people have issued a new lower tire pressure for those tires.

Where did you find the info regarding a new lower tire pressure? I don't find it on their site.

In recent times the inflation markings on the sidewall of the XRV tires have actually been increased to 110 psi.
