motor slideout gear stripped

I have a 1994 Newmar Dutchstar. The slide-out gear is stripped. I want to replace it with an original (Klauber) part, however, I am concerned what caused it to fail may cause a repeat failure. Possibly the controller adjustment was too strong causing the failure. Has anyone had a similar gear failure and did you replace the motor with a duplicate part? There are after-market motors but they may not match the controller. Some say Klauber is sub par and powergear is better, same thing again don't know the compatibility with other slide motors. Have welder will adapt.

mb0921, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. The best thing for the motor slideout assmy. is good battery voltage. It is when low voltage is used to drive the slideout that reaks havock on the drive mechanism. Fourteen years is pretty good for a slideout system. Sorry I can't give you any comparison between Klauber and Powergear. Good luck and enjoy the website.

I think with the service you had(14 years)that I would stick with the original equipment.
