Motorcycles and RV'ing
Good morning. I started the thread on getting your motorhome painted in Mexico and out of that came a discussion of motorcycles so...
I am a BMW rider and drive a Class A Georgetown. What do you ride and drive? I am just curious of the mix. For instance I think toy haulers will prefer dirt or dual purpose bikes.
Your thoughts?

KTM 350EXC. Class A gasser as we tend to boondock in remote locations where the higher ground clearance/lighter weight are an advantage. Bike resides on either a rear rack (custom built) which allows for a toad or on a trailer with our SXS. Ride about 90% dirt.

My bike of choice rides in the back of my Ranger.

Well,
Been riding for decades and, we've also taken our '08 Honda GL 1800 Goldwing along on our trips by either hauling it on a Hydralift on the back of our 36' diesel or, we now haul it on a Rampage lift, that's in the back of our '11 GMC Sierra 1500 extended Cab 4x4. But, I recently acquired a neat little 2007 Yamaha TW200 so, I'm gonna put it on a Versa Hauler on the back of our Motorhome and tow our other toad.

I ride a 530KTM EXC mostly on desert trails and dirt roads. Been riding the dirt bikes for 50 years. I also ride my 2012 Goldwing on the highways around the country. Have ridden a variety of Harleys for the 36 years before changing over to the Wing in 2012. I seldom transport the street bike but when I do it goes in a trailer. Putting those big bikes on a lift on back of the motorhome just looks ominous to me. We mainly tow the Jeep and save the street bike for designated bike tours.

We ride a 1994 Goldwing GL1500SE with a Friendship I sidecar - we don't take it with us when we're in the motorhome because we can't tow both a car and a bike, and a car is more versatile for us.

I've been riding for 53 years. I've motocrossed, road raced, taught motorcycle safety, and ridden all over the danged country. I even met my wife at the race track where she came to watch her brother race.
Current rides are 2013 Yamaha FJR1300, sort of a hot rod touring bike. And a 1999 Kawasaki ZRX1100, kind of an angry-sounding hooligan bike
When park hosting close to home i'll take a bike for my days off, but when traveling I leave them at home. RVing is my together time with my wife, and I don't want to make that about me.

'76 Moto Guzzi Convert
'04 Moto Guzzi EVT
'78 BMW r80/7
Homebuilt trike with Guzzi power.
I have not hauled any of them, yet. Well, at least not by choice. As I go mobile I need to sell the '04 and the '78 get a hauler for the others. I decided against a lift due to the trailer tongue weight and axle load resources they consume. I see the lift as very convenient for a bike, but rather limiting for anything else (non-tag). I'm toying with the idea of converting a 17', '93 Layton TT into a toyhauler by replacing the back wall with a ramp door and stripping the goodies out of the interior.

We have a GoldWing and a 35' gas Class A. We have a trailer for the bike and a towbar for the toad. We tow whichever we want to have at our destination, unless we want both, then she drives the car and I tow the bike.
