My first aquahot!!

I must say that I'm pretty impressed with this unit, it is the 450 D. I'm wondering about the annual mantainance, it doesn't look real complicated. I don't have anyone real close to me to do it. Do most of you do your own maintanence, and what does this entail? Thanks for the help. Regards

Maintenance would be replacing the fuel filter and nozzle and cleaning and checking the igniter gap.

There should be a gap tool attached to the Aquahot, you shouldn't need to buy one. Lots of folks are using this nozzle.

Download the service manual, it describes the procedure.

+1

Go to their website, and look up the maintenance manual 'For your model'.

Don't look it up on youtube. I've watched a youtube video on this and it was way, way, wrong!
Be very careful tightening the nuts on the swing bolts that hold the burner unit in place. Break those alluminum tabs off that attach to the swing bolts, your ahhh....... screwed !!

Do you have an extended warranty on your coach? If you do, you may want to check with the warranty company regarding their acceptance of self-service annual maintenance.

We had ours serviced professionally about a year after we purchased it (used). A few months later we had a boiler fluid leak due to a broken plastic fitting. When we had it in for repair the first thing the tech asked was about who serviced it last and when. He stated that he's seen a number of warranty claims denied due to people servicing the units themselves even though the work they did was performed correctly. He said it is a favorite excuse for a warranty denial. Sure enough, when we contacted the extended warranty provider they asked when and by whom the last service had been done.

I don't know if all insurance companies are the same but repairs have can be very costly and you don't want to give them an excuse to used their "Denied" stamp.

Ron thanks for bringing this up! I do have an extended service contract, and I didn't think about that. I remember reading through it, and this could definitely be a problem. Regards

It is not easy to do this job right. I watched a pro do my unit at a Tiffin rally in June. Difficult access, lots to do besides changing burner tip and fuel filter. My unit was only a year old, a total replacement of a 400 model from 2007 that failed internally and slow leaked. That's about a $10,000 date, so don't blow your extended ins. Policy. Mine paid about 70% when the dust settled. The 450 is a much better unit.

I watched a tech do the annual service on mine as well. The fuel filter is easy to change...the nozzle not so much. Don't think I want to mess with the nozzle.
