My garden hose ate three mice
Arrived at rv park hooked up water line....the next time I looked at the white garden hose It looked like a snake trying to digest a bunch of rodents. It swelled at the supply tap, and where it enters the coach. Also a couple spots along the way. I thought it was going to explode. Its unhooked now lying on the ground and still swelled up. What the heck!!!! Anyone have this happen? Looks like water got into the outer skin I guess.

Sounds like the reinforcement cord wrapped around the hose broke. How high it the water pressure? If you don't have a pressure regulator on the hose, I'd be careful.

I always connect the two ends of the hose together when storing. I've always worried about something getting up in it, although I was thinking bugs! Also, it prevents water from running out in the storage bay if I don't get it drained good!
Uh oh! That was dumb! I didn't read the post closely enough!

How old is the hose? An easy way to fix that is to pitch the existing hose and purchase one that has not tried any rodent digesting. Great description - caught my attention.

Walmart has an excellent RV hose. The blue one for the RV. costs around 25 bucks, but well worth it.

Thanks for giving me a good chuckle guys
I took the hose off and replaced it with my spare/ext hose. I had the water pressure regulater on the supply tap as usual. The hose is at least 10 probably 13 years old. Im at lazy days in florida so I think the pressure was ok. Thinking maybe old age . No real rodents were harmed in this thread

Well, that would have been a real test for your water filter!

YuuuuK! If DW found out, I'd be replacing the entire fresh water system - or buying a new RV.

I guess the title should have been worded " my water hose looks like a snake swallowing rodents At first glance it appeared like water pressure had built up and expanded the hose to a point where it was about to burst. But I now see that the inner hose leaked into the outer skin. No water leaked from the hose it just bulged. Never seen this happen before.

I've had it happen to old garden hoses, but not one I use for drinking water in my RV. Hope you've had all your shots, that ruptured inner liner could be a breeding ground for bacteria, and I don't mean penicillin.

My DW insists on drinking bottled water (for safety reasons), yet always brushes teeth with tap water. I use available tap water for all purposes. De gustibus.....
