Thanks for the advice. Since the shaft that operates the slide is square, it appears that the only way of moving it manually would be to use a large cresent wrench. Hopefully, there will never be a need to do this. I have had several instance where the slide did not deploy when the switch was activated. It seems to be an intermittent problem.
Also, there is a star shaped fitting on the end of the slide shaft that may lend itself to using a socket. Since the fitting looked so unique, I thought that a special tool may have been provided with the unit when it was new.
