Need help on sunshade/awning

Hello there,

My awning needs to be replaced. I'm looking for a supplier that sells those awnings that have the protective slats on top. Mine doesn't have them and the sun exposure on the top rots the awning right where it attaches to the roof of the MH. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here's info on what I have:

Brand: AE (Dometic)
Model 8500
Type: Manually operated
Length: 14 ft. 7 1/8 inches center-to-center on the track support bars.
Other numbers 848.15.701
Serial number 31596667

I don't know if you are doing the install yourself or want it done for you or where you are located. But these guys replaced mine with the cover you are looking for.

Hi Full.Monte,
I do not know of a manual awning with the protective slats. Mine is a power awning with the protective slats. Information about my awning is:
From the awning tube:
Product #: 958303334
Model #: 815EK20.001S

From the awning arm
1. Product #: 958303308
2. Model #: 8551002.400S

The color of my awning is grey.

Our manual Dometic awning has a weather shield . When shopping for new awning fabric. Look for this option. Be aware that there is still about 1" between weather shield and awning track.

I replaced my 7 year old awning with this. I have the same one you do. I looked into installing the slats, but realized that they cost more than a replacement awning did.

It is easy to replace the fabric yourself. There are a number of youtube videos out there.

This is a heavy duty vinyl that is holding up well so far. You can buy this one for $150

Here are instructions too.

Thanks to all of you for some good advice. It seems like there are a number of unknown vendors out there who supply these awnings. I really would like to get one with a weather shield and don't mind doing the installation myself.
I'm going to follow up on researching your suggestions.
