Anyone know where you can get the best deal on a new Freedom 458 Combi Inverter/Charger. My charger part quit working. Thought I would get a new one maybe.

It comes in several sub-models ("Series") with different wattage and big price differences. Which size do you need? 1000w, 1500w and 2000w
Here is the 1000W model for $737 deivered.

A few years back my Freedom 458 Combi (2000W) quit charging (inverter still worked) and I had it repaired. A circuit borad was bad and it cost $158 to replace it - much cheaper than buying a new inverter/charger.

Norm, did Xantrex do the repair, or an independent facility?

My unit is the 2000W. Maybe I can have it repaired?

The later RS2000 models have two fans, one runs continuous and the other on demand. Failure of a fan can cause rebooting due to overheat, possibly de-booting (did I just make that word up?). The fans are easily replaced w/a basic "case fan" of equal air output & voltage which is usually on the label of the fan motor. The two fans are different on the RS2k, but both can be found thru computer parts stores and online. Hope this helps.

Call Robert Chapman at 719-495-2740. His business is a Xantrex Repair Center. He might have a like new reconditioned unit in stock. Which can save you some money.

We used to own a 2000 Alpenlite 32RL with a Freedom 458 2000 watt inverter/converter. It failed one very cold winter day. W
e had it replace under the extended warranty, which worked well for us. The tech that did the work suggested installing a seperate 2000 watt inverter and 45 watt converter would be cheaper then paying for a new 458 if the warranty repair had not been approved.
Good luck
