New - Factory 4x4 - Motorhome

It is a "Super C" but, this is the first large scale maker that I have ever seen, to offer an OEM four wheel drive motorhome.

While a few small, low volume makers (Revcon, EarthRoamer, Tiger, etc.) offer(ed) some 4x4 motorhomes, this should bring it to a much wider market.

No, not an "Expedition-Vehicle" but this would add a whole new confidence to boondockers, beach fishermen, and open access to more of the wide-open areas of the Southwest.

For anyone that asks WHY?, you'd possibly never understand.
But for a possible explanation...it's the same reason we towed our last travel trailer thousands of miles with a four wheel drive Dodge DRW 3500.
Yes we used it. And, it was always there to add a level of safety and security in winter, off the hardtop like at that small secluded campground, and during the rainy season.

Safe travels

Look at dynamax. They offer a dodge diesel 4x4 in the iseta 4. Been out there a while and price very close to the Thor product. Looks and built much better.

Enjoy the journey

Will have to agree to disagree...a generalization like this wholly unsupported.
Care to share?

Ford, Our personal experience:
We own 3 Fords currently and have owned MANY since the 60's (yes, even a '67 Mustang...Miss it so much!). They are hard working, popular, and well built vehicles. Our F350 - w/7.3L Diesel was still running like a top at 215,000miles when sold (just needed a dually).

Thor, Our personal experience:
Have owned a Thor built pop-top, a TT, and currently own a Thor built Class "A" motorhome. Plus have friends with other Thor Class A's, Class C's and Class B's. These have all been excellent, affordable and quality RV's. And Thor RV makes some 21 brands, from premium RV's under labels like Thor Motor Coach, Hymer, AirStream, and DVR Luxury Suites to the other end of the business like Coleman Campers, among others.

There seems to be a phenom for naysayers to hop-on to bash a particular brand even when they have no personal experience and with Thor RV being the biggest and best selling RV maker in North America, these negative comments are questionable...especially from owner's of orphaned brand who's RV are now largely unsupported

I am VERY glad Thor Motor Coach is trying out a 4x4 option. Hope they sell enough to keep it and maybe grow into other models.

Safe travels.

Well...this is partly right.
While Dynamax is a Forest River brand, it's the Isata 5, and only offered a 4x4 option since the 2018 models:

Thanks

I always thought a 4X4 camper would be fun. There's a big gap in boonie camping once you go from towing a camper with a 4X4 to a 2WD motorhome.

Great Thor!

Our 2017 THOR Quantum has been nearly flawless. We did trip back up to Wakarusa to the factory shop, but that gave us time to go sightseeing, including factory tours. Everything we did was minor stuff, and they actually fixed a few things that I didn't see as an issue. So, basically our THOR has been great and for all practical purposes, we F/T in it.

Cool! I like the idea of a 4WD motorhome. It does beg the question, though--can someone just put a traction aid into their rear axle on a 2WD? What does a late-model Class C have--a Dana 80? Bigger? The Detroit TrueTrac I put in my last truck was trouble-free and effective...

Wow...another brand new one. Wasn't available in 2018:

Renegade was acquired by REV Group, but it is still a very limited volume builder

Thanks

Did I miss the Vercruz being 4 WD? Also, I'm not very fond of having the front jacks that far behind the front wheels. That's gonna be a hell of a dragging issue.

That could be a typo by the dealer...there are no photos of a 4x4 axle in the front and the maker does not list 4x4 as an option.

The Freightliner M2 chassis is available in 4x4, but as an aftermarket fitment.
