Hi, my name is Dan. My wife and I have RVed in Alaska twice and fell in love with it. I just purchased a 2005 Dutchman with only 12,700 miles and am really excited about making my first trip.

We are in the process of outfitting with cooking and bedding. Any suggestions? I did just purchase a new 8" foam mattress and a mattress topper.

I have a new grill for outside and all the outdoor chairs and table.

The only problem I have found with the RV a is that it is not charging my auxiliary battery when plugged into shore power. Any suggestions?

Hope to talk with all interested people!

It helps immensely if you furnish specific information for your RV, like brand-as you already have, model, engine & transmission, inverter brand+model, etc.
Your inverter/charger should be charging your house/aux. batteries when plugged into shore power. The battery charger function of the inverter must be enabled. Without knowing more about your MH all we can do is offer general suggestions.

Hi Djhall,
Welcome to iRV2. Your coach should have a converter/charger installed. Usually, the unit is found in the same compartment as the power cord for connecting to shore power is located. Once found, the output from the charger needs to be checked, with a meter. The problem could be:
1. the charger
2. the battery(s)
3. a fuse between the charger and the battery(s)

The location of components is unique to a brand, model and year of the coach.

Glad to have you here with us.

Your inverter has a circuit breaker on it, check to make sure it's not tripped. Like others have said we need more info to help.
That was my best guess.

Smile More RV info

My RV is a 2005 Dutchman 31P by Four Winds. It had 12,700 miles when purchased and I have only added 120 miles driving home from the dealer. RV drove very good and I set the cruse at 60. Got 10 mpg. Truck cab is F450 with a Triton V10. I have all records for maintenance.

As for the problem of the auxiliary battery not charging, I have checked the converter and no fuses are blown. I have charged the battery but have not reinstalled yet. Very cold in TN right now!!! When I place a meter on the wires going to the battery, no battery installed, and shore power plugged up, I get no voltage reading. If I start the truck I get 13.5 volts, with no battery.

Any help would be appreciated.
