New roof! Should I use TPO or EPDM ??

Going to replace my Roof this summer on my 34' Coachmen. Has several patches in it right now, but needs to be done soon. The roof I have now is EPDM. But I've read that the TPO is easier to install and that it help reduce the temperature inside the coach because it's white on white? Also read that you don't get back streaks on the sides with TPO?

The EPDM will run about $150 more then the TPO. Just wondering is anybody has done a roof in TPO?

Your thoughts?

Have you considered Spray on roofing? At least one high end RV manufacturer is offering it as an option. Others have done it on their own with good results.

Yes I did. Here's a copy of the quote I got for that:

The estimated cost to do your 34' roof would be $4800 plus tax. This price includes the replacement of all vent pipes bases and lids, refrigerator base and lid, standard vent lids, new Camco vent covers and new a/c gaskets.

TPO is the better of the two materials. Does not sluff off the top layer like EPDM and is more puncture resistant. An estimate should be around $130/foot.

Your choice.
To help protect against ozone and UV rays, EPDM roofing membrane is designed to oxidize or shed over time. This is not a concern, though, because it probably will shed less than 10 percent of its overall thickness in a 10- to 12-year time period.

TPO is yet developing its track record with expectations of a 20 year time period.

As a result of the shedding, the tell-tale signs of EPDM rubber are the gray or white streaks that you see on the sides of the RV.

TPO roofing does not oxidize or shed, so there are no gray or white streaks. Another way to distinguish between the two is to see how slippery the rubber surface is when it is wet. EPDM roofing is extremely slippery when it is wet, whereas TPO is not.

where's the best place (price) to buy the TPO roofing? I'm going to do the job myself.
