The problem with aluminum is that it flows over time in many connectors, causing weaker connections and therefore heat build-up and possibly fire. Connection devices MUST be rated to be used with aluminum, many engraved with CU-AL for copper or aluminum. I personally would not use aluminum for any wiring. Aluminum is also not as good a conductor as copper and therefore requires a larges gauge wire than copper to carry the same current.
