Cool No air horn operation

My air horn on a 1997 Beaver Monterey stopped working. I don't have a clue on how the wiring goes, what to check, etc. No manuals, no ideas and yes, not even a clue. Helpless in Sturgis. Thanks.

More than likely the air valve for the horns is stuck. It is quite common when the horn is not used often. The valve should be on the "fire wall" and have an air line in and one out with a pair of wires to control it. While someone inside pushes the horn button you can rap on the valve and it will probably start working. If not verify the valve is getting 12vdc and let us know what you find. Good luck and enjoy!

You may also have a "city" horn. There would be a switch somewhere around the driver to turn on the air horns - check to see that you didn't accidently switch the air horns off.

I'm having the same problem but I think they are starting to work after a year of trying them now and again with all the !@#$$% out there...
I just ordered a dash cam so we have proof.
I wish I had the air horns that I had on my 96 Pete, How about a train horn I have seen them on some sites that sell horns.
We really like the ones that go from the fast lane to the exit in 1/8 of a mile or less.
Rant over, Tim

First, is your air pressure up ? Had to ask,.

Here is a diagram that may help you sort it out. Not yours precisely but should give you a good idea where to look.

All good suggestions that should help resolve your issue. Until we hear back as to which one of those worked, we will be on the look out for hand gestures.

When you press the horn button, do you hear any clicking? Often the horn button triggers a solenoid that handles the higher amperage needs of the air solenoid. Track down the solenoid and check that it is passing 12 v through to the air solenoid. Connect a jumper directly from the larger terminal on the solenoid 12 v (+) wire going to the air solenoid wire to see if it is working. If there is no solenoid, you can still use a jumper wire from a 12 v (+) source directly to the air solenoid wire. Of course first verify that the fuse for that circuit is good and horn button is working.

Thanks for all of your ideas. I'm finishing getting (hopefully) my generator repaired today. Maybe I'll be able to start troubleshooting later today. It's currently a rain/snow mix of weather today. Time to South soon, very soon. Probably tomorrow, Saturday the latest. Thanks for all your posts.

Spritz......I wish I had the air horns that I had on my 96 Pete, How about a train horn I have seen them on some sites that sell horns.

I had one of those installed on an old Binder I drove many years ago. It was a real blast, and I mean blast! I pulled the chain in the shop and it rattled cans off the shelves.

dorfboyzz......You're still in Sturgis?????? I thought that place was buried in snow a couple weeks ago.

Yeah, I'm still here because of mechanical issues. Yes, I got 36" at campground, 55" up the road 8 miles. Leaving after tomorrow, I hope. Storms keep popping up.

We are in line for snow but I think the ground is still to warm for it to stay.
