We need help. We're in Port Richey Florida.The no see ems are eating us alive. We tried sprays, skin so soft,after bites cream with cortisone; nothing is helping the itching and scratching, our arms and legs are full of red lumps and we are miserable. If we don't have suggestions we might have to cut short our Florida Holidays. Hoping your experience can help us. Thank you so much.

It's been colder then we ever expected here in southern Texas. When we first got to San Antonio we experienced the same thing. I think they got into our clothes, in the draws. Everytime I put on clean undies, something was bitting me. That has seemed to pass, maybe it's too cold for them, it's about 54 degrees and windy as heck.

I keep Deep Woods Off handy and try not to use a lot of colone, the bees come out when it gets above 62.

Gilles and Monique,we are also here in Port Richey. The wife uses "Cutter Mosquito Wipes" from WalMart seems to work for her.

I know it it is an old wives tale but we use skin so soft by Avon. Works every time.

You may also be a victim of mites, tiny biting critters that may have gotten into clothing, bed linens, etc. Spider mites are often in that tempting Spanish Moss hanging from the trees or on other plants and there are several other species of to-small-to-see mites.

The critters may now be in your clothing, towels or bed linen. If you are infested, you will probably need a miticide because mites are not insect and the usual pesticides won't kill them. I don't know of a chemical to suggest that would be safe for human contact, so check with a pest control place or plant nursury, which will sell miticides.

Hey R/T pickup, you are probably the victims of those blasted little bugs called "chiggers"--see this site :http://www.uky.edu/Agriculture/Entom...ruct/ef630.htm

We, rather I became a victim of those little sob's while in LaFerria TX last October. I'm convinced their only mission in life is to cause as much torment to humankind as possible. The advice others gave on using repellants is the best.

I agree with RV Roamer. More than likley they are mites and could be from the Live Oaks and Spanish Moss.
The no see-ums based on my personal experience are not seen and leave no rashes...they just bite. Period. Nothing can be seen.
I have no solution for you so please keep us advised off how you resolved the problem.

I am allergic to no-see-ums. I get the red welts and horrible itching. My dr. gave me a prescription for Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream, and I use it several times a day for the first 3 days or so and then the itching lets up. When one of them starts itching, I put cream on all of them. Also if you have Zyrtec or something similar that will help.

I am in south LA and the no-see-ums are as plentiful as the mosquitos.
