Hi there:

I am having some problems with my Norcold 778 fridge in a "new to me" 1981 Winnebago. It runs great on propane and get very cold within a few hours.
On electric power (12 or 120 volt) it does not get cold at all. even after a day.
When I have it on electric the heating element gets warm, but not nearly as hot as when it is on propane. It looks like someone has replaced the heating element in the past, with some "fancy" wiring. Can anyone tell me from these pictures if it is wired correctly? To me it either has to be the heating element, thermostat, or wiring - since the unit works so well on propane, does that make sense - or am I going in the wrong direction?

It appears that your wiring has been changed to bypass the electrical for the fridge

The wires coming out of the back of the fridge are RED, Yellow, & Black.

There are two White wires coming off of the "probe" on the side of the heating "tunnel" (not sure what it is called), they connect to the Red & Black coming off the back of the fridge.

There is another "probe" that is lower and facing me when I am looking at the back of the fridge. It has a Red, Yellow, Black, & Black wires coming off of it. One Black and red are cut and just hanging there. The Yellow goes to the Yellow from the back of the unit. The Black goes to ground.

Confusing, I know. I can try to post pictures with labels if that is any help to anyone.

The electrical makes heat on 120V - just not very much.
