Norcold not lighting every time.

My fridge is not igniting every time and often needs to be turned off and on to ignite. Hard to trouble shoot because of sporadic nature of the problem.

If it's doing the same thing when hooked up to an independent battery then you probably have a bad power board. Those electrodes are either good or bad so it's not that. If it works fine on an independent battery then you might have a bad converter.

Fleetwood Discovery 2015

Check all the connectors in the back, first. Turn off power, 120 and 12v. Remove and clean with electrical/electronic contact spray. Check ground connections. Then check voltages.

When it DOES light, does it stay on and cool properly on LPG? If not, the orifice could be partially clogged. You can remove it from the end of the LP line, soak it in 91% alcohol for several hours, and blow it out with a high-pressure air line. You will be amazed at the crud that comes out!

Ignition needs fuel, air, spark

Fuel....propane is very LOW pressure so flow can EASILY be disrupted. Spider webs, mud dabbers etc. Clean main orifice (no poking anything thru it---laser cut rudy), clean burner tube (slots get blocked by rust, debris)

Air.....fixed open shutter and rarely the issue until high altitude (elevations above 5500' can be issues with some propane appliances)

Spark......electrode needs to be clean of soot, must be engulfed in main flame, should be centered directly over burner slots, gap needs to be 1/8"-3/16" and no ground tracking at ceramic (no cracks---wipe down with rag sprayed with silicone) and properly grounded (check all screws clean/tight)

With good 12V DC source and above conditions met should fire off everytime

More info. It's a 94 double door. Works great after relighting. Nice even blue flame that stays lite until frig is coolenough. Setting on 3 does fine job of freezing and cooling. When it fails the red check light comes on and sometimes we need to turn off and wait 10 min. Before turning on to get it to light. Wow you guys are great, right on it. I have tried cleaning electronic connections and clean orifice in alcohol. Seems to be full 12 volts present at board. Sitting just outside of Lincoln City, oregon where they make the dinosaur boards. I am going to try to get to their door and talk to them in person. Web site says they only sell through dealers. Well worth a try. Would be easier if it acted up all the time.
Thanks guys, ladies

The mfgr. recommends annual cleaning to keep these units operating properly and efficiently. The cleaning process is in the owners manual.
If it stays burning once relit, every time, I suggest you have a LP supply line leak that is causing the problem.

Sounds like you may be on the right track! I'm sure they will have a local dealer that you can purchase through if they think that's the problem!
