Given the history you recounted here, I would suspect corrosion, either on the board itself or the pins that plug it into the fridge wiring harness. It sounds like it fails to accomplish the power mode switch (AC/gas) some of the time. A new board would probably fix it, but you shouldn't need a new one so soon. Might be some reason yours is getting corrosion, though. Or perhaps vibration has cracked it internally?
Dinosaur can probably provide a good quality replacement board. They make sturdy stuff.
