We just bought a 31 ft. class C. We have only owned a small class B before. Looking forward to RVing again.
I insist that if we are in a cg with a bathroom that number 2 should never be done in the MH. It smells and at least in the past has been crappy to empty so to speak.
Wife says she would rather use the MH bathroom.
Most RVers I have met agree with me.
What are your opinions?

personally we bought our rv to enjoy the pleasures of home on the road. If my DW says she would rather use the motorhome guess what she is going to do. There really shouldn't be any smell so to speak, at least that's been our experience. And yeah the dumping could be nasty, I installed a macerator and it seems to be a little easier.

own bed, own bathroom. that is one of the main reasons we bought an rv. I can undestand the smell in the B, but in the C turn exhaust fan on when done, but not untill after you flush or you will get a real surprise. dumping should not be unpleasant. I like to have full hook-ups so I can dump at my site because some people do make a mess at the dump stations. check this out.

I am also going to side with Your Better Half. It is a Toilet and should be used as such.

Welcome to the forum!

I really couldn't disagree more with your strategy. In the past 4 years we've logged 40,000 miles and >1100 nights in CGs. I'll bet I can count the number of CG restrooms I've seen the inside of on one hand.

On this forum I doubt you'll find that most RVers agree with your approach. It shouldn't stink and should be no more difficult or nasty than dumping your grey tank... which you have to do anyway.

We use a product such as Bio-Pak that we purchase from Walmart or Camping World. Does a great job keeping the odor down and breaks down the waste with enzymes. We never use campground restrooms...

We use ours & single ply paper that will disolve in water. I don't know the brand, DW buys it. But we will not use the RV specific. Do a search on here about type of TP & weather to use chemicals or not. We tried without, but were not happy with the results. We use the chem packets from Walmart.

I try not to travel with #2 on board. My 2 stinks. If I am in a CG with full hookups then I will use whatever is convenient at the time. If I am traveling I try not to use MH. But it is not a rule, just a suggestion, where convenient.

It got a toilet for a reason.. I use mine. No chemical and no issues!

Shouldn't be a problem if only the DW uses it - After all, as mine always reminds me, hers "doesn't stink".

Seriously, the only time I try to refrain from using the on board facilites is when I am on the last leg of a trip after having dumped and cleaned the waste tanks and I will be storing the MH for more than a few weeks.

I left mine sitting in the Summer heat for about 6 weeks with some poo in the tank, and all I can say is RIPE.

Many folks make the mistake of not flushing a deuce with enough water. Odor shouldn't be a problem. An enzyme tank additive helps, especially on hot summer days. We didn't buy our rig to use a public bathroom.

I have never found a campground facility that I would opt to use over my own facility. I know for certain who has used my toilet. Can't say the same for a public facility.

The only time I've had odor problems is when poo was left in the tank for an extended time after travel. Deuces not allowed after the last dump before parking the rig at home. No chemicals necessary, just use plenty of water. I always fill the tank to the 1/3 mark prior to use. And even with that much water in it I'll end up dumping the gray tank many times before it's time for a black tank dump.
