oil filter

I know this question has been ask a thousand times but hear we go again. Where is a good filtercross referance chart. I am in need of a fleetguard LF3970 (cummins 3937736) oil filter. I would love to have a good chart to go to. Old dyi but new to the rv life. I am planing on using mobil one 10-40 turbo-truck. Filter? Good or bad on the oil?

What engine would help.

Cummins usually calls for 15W-40.

you don't have a local auto parts store? They can cross reference filters if you must use something other that what is factory recommended

Hope this cross ref helps:

http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g3000/2008...pdf?zo=1181889. The Donaldson with their exclusive synthetic nano fiber technology are the best at filtering smaller particles, flow, hold more particles and last longer.

Amsoil DME 15w40 chemical synthetic oil outperforms and outlasts other diesel oils in standard oil tests.

Hers a link to Filter Barn. Welcome to Filterbarn™ | Discount Oil Filters | Discount Air And Fuel Filters | Heavy Equipment and Diesel Engine Filters I would also recommend staying with conventional 15w-40 oil. Rotella, Delo. No synthetic snake oil for me either.

I blocked him in my control panel here so I never see his irritating snake oil posts.

I always use the OEM filters and the recommended oil, filters and oil are cheap, engine or transmission problems are not.

I would be careful with Filter Barn. I ordered a bunch of filters from them this winter among which were the pair for my Allison 3060. Filter Barn took the Allison high capacity filter numbers, cross referenced them to low capacity filters, and then shipped me a pair of low capacity with a manufacturing date of 2001 After several phone calls and emails they insisted that what they shipped was correct. Allison went to high capacity filters about 2004 or so.

Maybe "you get what you pay for" is true. I'll go to Cummins or Allison for those filters from now on.

I'ne never seen an "I'm sorry I used a Cummins filter" post on any forum. Go with OEM and the worst thing may be paying a dollar or 3 too much.

Just a quick note
I own a few trucks. About half are Scania the other half Kenworth
I had a manufacturer supplied gear box filter fail and Scania warranted the $15k damage it did to the box when it ran out of oil.
You can buy a lot of 3rd party filters but you will never save that much money
Granted 1 failure in 105 trucks
I reckon its worth it
We don't by Donaldson or any other filter except OEM
Aren't about to start in the coach either
