Hi Randy, if the container was sealed, no contaminates or moisture in the oil, I would say it will have a long life(Climate controlled atmosphere), if it has sat for years, shake it up, to suspend any additive's that might of settled. If it is really old, and maybe missing some of today's technology, might want to buy new. There is not any info. on Shells website on this subject or on the web for that matter, maybe email Shell and ask.......?
