UPDATE :
Installed a flat seal surface for the Genny Slide to rest on. Drove through 3 good downpours so far, all is good!

Update:

The RV started working as it should although it then threw the fault code 24... It hasn't thrown the fault code 38 since my last post back in Feb/March I believe.

I read up on the fault code 24 which shuts the generator off after 5 mins if it does not detect a change in coolant. With summer here and temps being what they are, I said screw it and took it to an authorized Cummins dealer. They are a small shop in Pacific, MO and do good work. The completely pulled the generator, ran every single diagnostics test they could and of course it ran perfectly. The only thing they can figure is it's the inverter, i think that's what he said, which is $3,000 plus labor! Anyone want to chime in on this? If that will cure my problem, I'm all for it, but that's a lot of money for it not to be a certain cure... This genny has been so dang frustrating!

My onan has been giving code 24 for a long time. I just restart it and it then runs forever. With the unit buried under the front of the MH it will take a lot more than that slight inconvenience to get me to go to the trouble of pulling it out.

Glow plugs don't work either so getting it going in cold weather takes a squirt of starter fluid. More inconvenient but still not bad enough to warrant pulling the generator out.

X2 Gerdutch Front mounted 7500 QD are know for water intrusion to the Breaker area. Fix is to keep water away from the control area on the front of the Gen set. Example tape the joints of the case and cover the control area with a piece of plastic sealed with tape. Rain will cause it to short and the water is retained in the enclose area and can cause more shorts days later. Noting is being hurt just causing the breaker to trip. Don't ask how I know. Richard

I’ve been told to never use starting fluid on a Diesel engine it washes out the cylinders. Use something like WD 4. Maybe a mechanic will chime in for clarification.

I used starting fluid on diesels for my 45 year career as a heavy equipment mechanic, without damaging any engines. Well at least not immediately.

With my own diesel, if I wasn't a mechanic and didn't feel the need to have my engine repaired ???, I would use WD40.

I have worked on a lot of older coaches where the fuel line to the genset is not tolerant of the 10-15 % ethanol fuel we see today, and its sucking sir and fuel, cuz the fuel line from the gas tank has pinholes in it.
I believe he has a Diesel Gen set so there would be no carb.
