Onan Tech Support - WORTHLESS
TMH's JC Blackburn - PRICELESS
JC was not definitive on the exact source of the problem but he had enough insight and experience with the system and its installation to send me in the right direction. He believed there was a loose start/stop connection somewhere between the gen and the EC-30. He said to first confirm the AGS settings and go through the TEST SYSTEM again which all tested okay. Then check to make sure the hour meter was counting which it was. Then make sure its terminals and the gen harness connector behind it were secure which seemed secure. Then he said check the terminal connections on the back of the dash start/stop switch which seemed secure. Then check the 3 harness connectors in the gen compartment. I disconnected them and lightly sprayed the pins and terminals with CRC 6-56.
I turned off all loads then turned OFF SP. I turned ON the front a/c and the gen started right up and continued running.
I ran the gen for 5 min then turned SP back ON. The gen did NOT automatically turn OFF after 10+ min because the a/c was still ON. I turned UP the thermostat to turn OFF the a/c. Then ran it for another 10+ min before automatically turning OFF.
I have no idea which of the above was/were the culprit but JC sent me in the right direction with success!!! I spent alot
of time under the dash running the wires to the AGS so it's very possible that something was jostled loose.
The EC-30 will run the gen for a MIN of 10 min to prevent short cycling the gen and a/c even if the request has been satisfied in less than 10 min. The a/c and voltage requests are the primary triggers for the AGS. SP is only a secondary/safety in that its presence or lack thereof WILL NOT start/stop the gen alone.
