When figuring the CCC on our newly purchased MH I noticed when we take it tailgating we might be slightly over (175 lbs). How big of a deal is this? This MH has two slides which reduces the CCC I assume. This is based on if we have 8 people in the MH. When we only have 7 we are only over by 50 lbs or so and with 6 people we are ok.

Anyway, is this a huge deal being a close to 200 lbs over?

As long as your tires are not over their limit I don't think I'd worry about it. You happen to know what many that are overloaded don't... that they are. I'm assuming 175 lbs is with water full & fuel at least half or more so?

I'm figuring full fuel but only having the fresh water just about 1/4 full since it won't be used much except to flush and wash hands.

I have read (somewhere...don't ask for a link

) that more than half the RVs on the road are overweight to some degree. In my opinion (and we all know what that's worth), there is a built-in fudge factor to the weight limits, though I have no idea what that would be. The best thing is to stay within the specs if you can.

I think this is well put. Hat's off to you for being proactive with the issue. Just wondering though, do you not drink beer with the tacos while tailgating? a 1/4 tank for flush & hand washing seems low

Very appropriate thread for me, I just got back from the CAT scales. Total weight 16,275 on a 16,000 chassis. I agree with the previous poster that there has to be some fudge factor allowed. I filled the fuel tank before weighing, and 70 gallons weighs about 560 pounds if I remember correctly. Had I weighed first I'd have been under by a few hundred pounds. Most importantly, neither axle was over limit, so the tires are not overloaded. I'll just have to trim out some storage items before the next trip.

Ha yes we drink a lot at our tailgate, figure 150 pounds just in the three coolers. Bathroom will only be used by those that ride with us, everyone else that joins the party can use the porta potties in the lot.

I think Sarah's got it 'right.' It's amazing how much personal 'stuff' you'll pack into the 'what-ever.' Longer it is, the more "I just have to have!!" Love seeing MH's with a large pull box behind with the (who knows what?) stuff, stuffed in those things.

Had to chuckle a few months back as the 'ex' has a two year old Subaru (ex or not, I bought for her; still think the very best for her as she moves on) and wanted a pull toy camper/trailer. First was a 'Tear Drop,' very cool looking thing .. think Rolls Royce looking thing. It was really cool looking but 110% impracticable for someone 68 and her 78 year old 'boy friend.' A place to sleep and that's about it .......

Anyway, posts up pictures of 'it/them' and right back saying you'll pull the guts out of your car pulling that thing. Two/three trips and they traded the thing in for a pop up camper unit at (my guess only) half the weight.

Hold the lady in highest respect (as a business woman) but when it comes to 'down to real life matters' one of the most beautiful 'air heads' I've ever met. Still paying for a major 'gave in.'
