Panasonic GP-RV201AFL Monitor

I just purchased a 1999 Pace Arrow 33 ft and has a mounted Panasonic GP-RV201AFL camera. Of course the monitor for it is not there. I understand the monitor is a GP-RV112 but I see they are $300! I am use to paying $50 to $150 for a backup camera for a car or truck. As I do not know if the camera works, I am not sure what to do. Do I get a new system and if so which one for the unit, or do I just get the $300 unit and hope the camera works.
Is there another monitor I could use? Is there a way to feed it into a TV so I could just see if the thing works?

I would try to hook up the camera to a computer monitor or old TV before investing $300. I'm not familiar with this camera, so I can't give you specific advice. As you say, you can get a complete new one for $150.

If you don't get an answer, repost this on the "technology" part of the form, as there are more geeks monitoring it.

Often the CRT monitor goes bad. I'd not pay $300 for a new monitor/camera system, there are many choices available on Ebay, Amazon, etc. that cost far less. Your camera is black and white, 102º wide coverage. Check the number of wires in the present camera run, you might have to cut and splice new ends on the cable, but you probably won't have to run a new cable front to back.

I replaced my B/W CRT with a 7" color monitor. It had two video inputs, so I added a side camera to eliminate the right side blind spot. Not a difficult project and it's nice having a 'wide' view color dash monitor.

I have not been able to find the wires for the camera yet. They were pushed up in the head liner and I am not sure how to get to it. I worry about drilling holes in the unit and was thinking of a wireless but it is a 33 ft unit.
