Pantry Door Fastener Help?

I have a slide out pantry door in my C. Much like a pocket door it slides in a no out. However, sometimes it comes open all by itself while we're on the road. Turning into places with curbs is the usual culprit.

Does anyone have a good modification to "latch" this sliding door closed?

My thinking was to use a threaded Rod, with one end a wood screw thread and the other end a machined thread. Mounting in the wood end into the cabinet base, then a latch of some kind under a wing nut. This would allow me to tighten the wing nut and the latch to hold the pantry door in place.

Anyone with Army experience remember the engine access cover hold downs in APC's? Looking at the same concept. I just can't find the hardware to do that. So, any good ideas?

If you have two doors in two tracks, a hole drilled at the top through both doors and a pin in the hole will lock it in place. We have a pocket door on our RV that just uses a strap fastened on one side, that wraps around the door end and snaps to hold the door open while traveling.

Many higher end RVs use an air actuated 'clamp' to hold sliding doors in place while moving.

Also, the small aluminum clamps used to prevent sliding doors from being pried open on a home might work on the rolling track of the door.

There are many options, most not as complicated as what you're describing.

"Toad Haul".....These latches are pricey, but work well RV Designer Cabinet Door/Drawer Push Latch - 5lb - Latches & Catches - Cabinet & Drawer - Hardware They sell them at most RV stores and online.

You might check, your slide out pantry may have these installed. If the they get bumped accidentally by the slide being out of position, the cam inside will spring shut or break. The slide drawer may still work, just not lock. If you do have these, pull the triggered lock out with a screwdriver.

I use a simple sliding bolt type lock on a door that is hidden behind the slide when the slide is closed. Sometimes it would pop open and when we would try and open the slide it would get stuck. Adding the latch has prevented it from opening.

Here is a link to one like I've used

You can get the item DUTCH STAR DON showed on Amazon for less than $8 in 5 or 10 pound rating. Search Southco Grabber Latch, just bought for my slider door, be sure they line-up or they will break.

I put rare earth magnets from Home Depot inside the frame with a long extension on my drill and a steel plate on the sliding doors to hold them open.
Works great, no more latches to open and close.
Seems you could use the same system on a pantry slide.
The magnets are strong, needs a good tug to break the hold. You could use more than one if you thought was necessary (I used 2 each on my sliding doors)
