Thanks for the response to my question about door size. Think I'll go with the 14x14 door. I am modifying the shop, since CC&R's want new buildings to match existing. Facing enough foot dragging by my S.O. and don't want neighbors upset also!!

Our door is 16 foot tall and hubby didn't push it up far enough one day and caught the spotlight on the roof and broke it. Couldn't believe it.

We are having trouble getting electric in ours. The electric won't trench till we find the water line, we didn't know where it ran, then winter happened. I got in touch with previous owner and found where it was or very close. Going to get a plumber with a trencher to cut it across there so if he hits it he can patch the pipe. Then going to get with the power company again to run the electric underground to the garage. I've also had an electrician come out and he never came back. We are rural and very hard to get anyone to do anything here.

I want my garage door openers. lights and everything as does my husband, what a pain.

14x20 commercial insulated door which is very heavy, has a side mount electric door opener with built in mechanical hoist to open door in case of power failure

Very nice. If I am lucky mine will be half the size of yours. Just cleared for a road and building. I hope to put 50 amp plugs in the building with lots of lighting. Cannot have too much lighting. I will make it large enough for two coaches. Mine is a 40 footer. Hope to make it at least 60 foot deep and 45-50 wide. Wish me luck as it will all depend on the cost.

Any advise re the door size? Phil
This is the mod I did on my building which sounds close to what you are considering. I went with 14' high x 12' wide and this size door provides plenty of entry/exit space. I also went with this size because I could salvage/re-use OHD I had. Works good.

If you have the room a 16' wide door is very nice and not much difference in price from a 14'

I am getting quotes on raising the roofline and extending the building by to 45'. I will incorporate a 14x14 roll up door. Will build a "knee wall" on the right side to get a 15' ht. Phil

I have seen some beautiful buildings in the thread, is there a rough estimate on square foot cost for a metal insulated building constructed for just the shell? Some of these units are incredibly gorgeous!

Get bids from at least 4 different builders. Prices will vary wildly. Mine is running about $12.50/ft for metal pole barn with insulation all around. Not counting concrete, site work or permits.

Whats a snow plow? Do you use it on that funny looking white stuff on the ground in the picture? Hope it goes away for you. Nice looking garage.
