Pocket Hose rocks....until it burst
I tried a "Pocket Hose" (as seen on TV) for washing my roof.
It was great...very light, and did not have to worry about scratches on the RV.
Then while the hose was laying on the ground while I was soaping up the side of the RV, it burst. The inside tubing just split.
Has anyone else experienced this??
I think I will try to exchange it for a new one, and I will remember to use a regulator next time.
It is a really handy item while it was working
Dan

I had two split and gave up on them. Great idea but they don't last. It's just a cheap piece of plastic tubing with fabric around it.

I bought the DAP XHose Pro from Bed Bath & Beyond. I never took it out of the box and returned it due to all of the lousy reviews of ALL pocket hoses.
Not worth the money or the time.

Got 2 days out of one. And I was not leaving it lay around with pressure on it.

I use it as a black tank flush hose. I would never put a shutoff on the end.

Hmmm...We have had the original DAP version hose since last summer...use it almost daily at the studs and stucco house with a spray handle shut-off on the end.
Works fine and we love the doesn't kink aspect.
Haven't gotten one for the RV because we carry 3 different lengths of the white drinking water hose. We would not use the pocket hose for drinking water, there is a strong plastic odor in the water through that hose.
Safe travels
P.S. Our RV is gas powered, we tow with a dolly, and we cover the RV when in storage so maybe we are just odd

We got an el-cheapo at a local hardware store. It blew apart the third time I used it. We replaced it with the DAP, which is beginning its second season as the s&b garden hose.
No complaints.

I was going to buy one last year. I checked the reviews on the internet. I have never seen so many negative reviews about a product.

Well gang,
One thing that has not been mentioned in all the answers to the original post is, WATER PRESSURE where any of you use that hose and, have had issues with it. That is, unless I missed it someplace. But, where we used to live (about 10.5 months ago) in Ramona CA, we had street pressure of 155 lbs. before the regulator. After the regulator I had it at 65 lbs. I had a couple hoses go ballistic at the 155 side, even though they said on the cardboard wrapper when new, "Burst pressure, 300 lbs". Yeah sure.
But, didn't have any go bad on the 65 psi side. But, I have never purchased one of those cheap-o EXPANDABLE hoses due to just what many of you are reporting. Now, where we live now, in Lake Havasu AZ, we have a whopping 55 lbs. at the house. I don't think I could blow a balloon with that low of pressure. Anyway, based on the majority of your reports, glad we didn't get one of those.

I've been using a pocket hose, primarily for black tank flush, for several months and it works fine. I use it straight off the spigot with no regulator and with a shut-off valve on the tank end. It stays stored out of the sun until I flush.
Thanks for the heads up.

The concept of the pocket hose is a great one. The quality of them is not. I bought one, it split within a week. I returned it, and the second one split the next day. They gave me a replacement, this one lasted about 2 months. I've given up on them.
