I can't give a brand recommendation, but I've shopped for one to use when Boon-docking. I would love to hear your product review. I've looked on Amazon they are $120-240.

Here you go, we have one of these, have had it for years, cranks out ice. Takes about 10 minutes to get going but once it does, drops cubes about every 3-4 minutes.

Good Luck!

I have worked on several portable ice makers and looked at quite a few more. They all appear to be made by the same chinese company with cosmetic differences as specified by the company they private label them for and have the same compressor, control board and other parts.
Because of that I would go for the cheapest one I could find.
I have seen them for as little as $99

We have one of the Emerson Ice makers that Target was selling last Christmas. Very satisfied with its speed and volume of ice production. By the third day of camping we are giving ice away.

Target had it for $108 at Christmas time. Saw the same one at CW for over $200 (branded as a Dometic).

We have the same one that jputer shows above.. It works well for us too when we use it, which isn't often these days because now we have a residential fridge with icemaker. Just note that the fan on the side of the unit blows out air that is a bit on the warm side. Not hot, but warm. It was an issue for us only because it was on a cabinet next to a chair, and whoever sat in that chair was getting a lot of warm air blown on them.

I bought one of the Emersons off the floor in Walmart ... a few scratches but works fine. Was about $60 at the time. It keeps up with about 2 glasses of soda. I.E., if you fill 2 glasses with ice, pour room temp soda in the glass, by the time the glasses are empty you have enough ice to repeat.

These work best if they are inside a cool RV.

Ice maker

From what I see one manufacturer makes them all with different names on them. Come in 2 sizes and Canadian Tire sells both. Larger one is on sale right now for around 149$. Identical to Camping World model other than the name plate.
ps we use ours all the time. great gadget as when we are not camping we use at the stick house

X2; 3 years no issues, purrs away in the basement of the coach all winter( in AZ ) and in the garage at home next to the beer fridge all summer.
Not that I drink that much ... but I have friends that do ... honest , I have friends.

How much ice do these hold? I was thinking of removing my Dometic ice maker and tray to give me more room in my freezer. I could put one of these ice makers on the counter.

They don't keep the ice cold. It slowly melts back into water, and is recycled back into ice. If you want to store the ice you need to dump it into bags and store in the freezer

They work great for parties and such but doubt you want it running 24x7. You can keep bagging the ice and have a nice supply In a few hours, and then turn it off until you need it again.

Do you have one of the portable basement freezers? They are very energy efficient and work great.
