Power Gear Slide Brake

When we first got our Bounder we had a problem with the curb side slide creeping out during travel.

I crawled under the slide and re-engaged the slide lock lever and that seemed to do the trick for a short time. I'm getting tired of scooting under the rig every time it starts creeping!

Several months ago someone posted a document showing how to remove & repair the Power Gear motor, gear set, and brake but I have been unable to locate it in hours of winnowing through search results. If I remember right the document showed how to remove the rubber boot to get at the brake without damaging the boot, and how to put it back & seal it better than it came from the factory.

Can anybody point me to the document or the original post?

I've come upon several comments about buying replacement parts but Power Gear's website says they only sell complete motor & gear assembles. At around $800!?! Are they serious!?!? What a scam!

If there's a place that sells replacement parts please point me in that direction too!

Thanks!

You should be able to purchase just the brake from a shop that buys from Power Gear. Sorry, I don't know of the post you are looking for. but the boot, if in good condition can be reused. If not buy a new boot as well.

If I remember correctly , the brake on the slide motor cannot be replaced. You can email power gear and receive a prompt response from them. Info@powergearus.com. They will link you to their tech sheets on the subject. Good luck and please update us.

Hopefully the op will email them and get an answer. http://support.powergearus.com/techdocs/82-S0309-T.pdf

Thanks!

I think that's the one! I've got a couple of weeks before our next trip so I'll probably work on it this weekend.
