I need to replace a shorted out kitchen slide motor. It is made by Power Gear and the part number is 13-1126 & 521769. I have made a few inquires but thought I would try the iRV2 resource too.

Anyone have a good source for obtaining these motors?

Also, does anyone know WHY a heavy duty Power Gear motor would short out when it hadn't been used in 6 months and had no power to it for that same period of time?

Thanks, Richard. They were the first place I tired and Naibi looked all over for one but they don't have it. She found a new one from a vendor which at $750, I really can't afford that right now.

Triker56, I checked out all of the motors on eBay and none of them are the right model for my application. Although, I will try the four distributors you had listed to see what they have.

It would be great if I could just replace the motor instead of the motor, gearbox, drive shaft, etc.

Could be that a local shop could rebuild your motor.

Good thought- look locally for a place that rebuilds alternators & starters.

Failure could be attributed to moisture/condensation or the motor had a defect when built. The only thing keeping windings from shorting together during build is a coating of special shellac/varnish. If one of the wires was nicked before or during the winding process, the problem would show up later in a failed motor.
Another problem could be a brush that wasn't loose enough to move when wearing down or else the brush/rotor picked up some kind of contamination eventually causing failure.
OR if the motor doesn't turn at all, that could be attributed to frozen/seized rotor bearings. If the bearing are seized that would most likely be caused by moisture.

Is this a hydraulic slide motor or electric? ..I know now that it is electric....and the part in not obsolete nor does it have a different replacement part number...
I am putting up a couple of PDFs as I find them. (You have probably found them already - but I figure this is a good reference for others later on...

Thanks so much for the very useful resources. I just knew that the iRV2 family would come through with some great ideas and sources. This forum is by far the BEST in its class! I will post how I end up resolving the problem.

You might try these folks, they are loaded with Monaco parts. Only a fraction is listed on their web site, you will probably need to make a call.

Well, after an exhaustive search, using ALL of the information gathered on this thread and doing a Power Gear search @ iRV2, I was able to find a source to order the motor at a reasonable price. I found an email on another thread addressed to Raymond Velasquez who checked his inventory but didn't have one. However, he made an extra effort and found one at another vendor for half the price versus what I was able to locate.

When I remove the defective one, I plan to take it to a local shop in Santa Clarita to have it rebuilt if possible. Richard S. supplied me with the contact for that vendor. If successful, I will have a spare as these things are not cheap.

Unfortunately, the local shop in Santa Clarita will only work on 120 volt or 240 volt motors, not 12 volt automotive type motors. They suggested I take it to an automotive shop that rebuilds starters, alternators and generator type motors.
