I have a 2005 Allegro Open Road 30 DA with an 8.1 litre workhorse chassis. The power steering pump whines real severe through first, secord, third and fourth gears, after it shifts into fifth gear the RPMs drop to around 2000 to 2200 RPMs, then the whine is not very noticable, as you slow down the transmission goes back into fourth gear the RPMs go back up and the whine get loud again and does so right down through all the gears to a stop. Read the thread from Dan L. He used the Amsoil synthetic universal power steering fluid and said it got a lot quieter. Could Dan L give me an email on the results is it still quiet? Has anyone else have this problem I would like any input on it as well as solutions, this noise is very annoying when driving at slower speeds.

Our 04 w/h did the same. Wh put a new one on. Yup, it was louder than the first. Started it up on a 32* morning and it went snap crack n wasn't too bad after that. Good luck.

the power steering is still quiet after about 3000 miles.
also, the amsoil tes295 transmission fluid quieted the transmission noticeable and made the shifting smoother.
