Powertrain Garage - No Detroit?

Just curious why there is not a Detroit subsection in the Powertrain Garage.

Hi Dverstra, not sure why they are not listed, but could be due to not being the typical power plant these days seen in the RV's. Is your's the 12.7L or the 14L? Either one is HUGE by comparison to Cummins, etc. I think the typical Cummins is 8.9L. Caterpillar also makes an RV engine, but not sure of the displacement.
Decades ago Detroit was very commonplace, but they were 2 stroke diesels and the updated EPA standards did them in. That is when Detroit introduced the Series 50 & 60 4 stroke engines with the DDEC control systems targeted at fleet operators. I believe the Series 60's were discontinued in 2011/2012.

No Volvo or Mercedes either. No transmission besides Allison either. It's simply not practical to have a board for every single manufacturer, engine or otherwise, woever supplied a powertrain component for an RV.

I suppose there could be an "All Other " board, but I leave that discussion for others.

There are more than a few Detroits around, e.g. in Wanderlodeges and older Prevosts. But still not many in the big scheme of things. Newer Prevosts use Volvo diesels. Freightliner sold some XC chassis equipped with Mercedes diesels for a year or so - some Tiffins have them. Now some of the high end Freightliners are shipping with Detroit DD13's again - American Eagles often have them.

There are probably some more I haven't stumbled across yet as well.
