Hello everyone

I am struggling with my A&E Oasis Elite (electric) door awning sticking when I try to open it. After I push the button it will only deploy after I hit the front upward. Has anyone had similar problems?

How long ago has it last been lubricated? Is the voltage up to good levels?

It's a long story. The last time I lubed the red tabs, the awning popped out while I was parking it in our storage, timed just so that the awning struck the upright pole and tore the fabric. Dometic insisted it was impossible for the awning to deploy with the key on. The reason it happened I later figured out was that I pushed the extend key and nothing happened. This left slack in the roller. Then at the worst possible time the awning popped out. I've had it worked on 3 times. The last time the shop ground down some bolts. Now I have to strike the front of the awning harder to get it pop out.

My 2004 developed a stickiness similar to yours, although not that bad. I removed the plastic latches (the ones that slide up and down) from the awning housing and filed off the burrs on them so they slid smoothly. Then I regreased them, checked the spring tension (was ok), and re-assembled and it worked great.

Thank you for the thread. I don't have a motor problem. I have a problem with the front bar hanging up against the case somehow. It works fine if I use my hand to hit the front bar after I have activated the switch to give the fabric some slack.

909dude, you may want to look more at the arm. It could be that it is damaged or worn and is now binding. Could you have elongated pivot hole that is alowing the arm to drop and binding up the top section? Good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks Mike. I'm taking it in this month, and I'll post the results. BTW I called Dometic about the problem and was less than impressed with their customer service. Too bad they are not as helpful as Fantastic Fan Co.

UPDATE

Temecula Valley RV adjusted the arms on the door awning. It looks as if it is working as designed. Hopefully we have finally fixed it. Thanks everyone for all of your input.
