I just installed an Onan EC-30W Auto Start Generator System on my ’04 Phaeton with a 7.5 diesel generator. After completing the installation the unit works very well, it will remotely start or stop the gen, start gen when batteries are low or cabin is too hot and it correctly senses shore power but I am getting false readouts. When the gen is running the readout states the “status of generator off” and the run light does not light up. During shut down the display properly flashes “stop” and “priming” and the run light blinks during shutting down so the light itself is ok.

The trouble shooting section in the manual says to check the Y-connector installation and I have verified the connectors are bottoming out and that no pins are bent.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Have you checked to be sure of good grounds?

Thanks for the tip but I had already checked the ground.

Today I called just about everybody at Onan and only the salesmen were aquainted with the product, obviously they haven't schooled their techs on it yet.

I don't give up easily so more phone calls will be made until someone tires of me and decides to help.

After re-reading your post, I would think that a mis-wire or bad relay is to blame. Also have you retrieved a particlar fault code (number of blinks)?
