Propane Tank Loose??

I was told that on some motorhomes, the tank brackets that are welded to the chassis start to break. I did a "search"for this problem and found nothing.

I checked with a friend who has a 2003Winnebago Brave and his were cracked. Winnebago paid for the repair.

So is this just a limited problem to certain units? Has anyone heard of this earlier.

Did this show up in any other Class A units?

My brother-in-law has a 2003 Winnebago Journey on a Freightliner chassis. Shortly after buying it new he received a recall notice from Winnebago to have the LP tank inspected. The dealer moved the tank a few inches to the rear and re-welded it. No problems since then.

I understand this was a problem in a number of Winnebago's and they were diligent in issuing recalls. My coach had the improved brackets installed by the first owner.

There is a recall out on some models

There is a recall concerning bad welds on propane tanks. The following link should take you to it.

NATIONAL had a recall on several models for that problem . The fix was to install metal straps around the tank and secure with new brackets.
