Protection of Brite-Tek Roof

I washed my Brite-Tek roof a couple of days ago and want to apply UV protection so I went to the local RV dealer to get Dicor Rubber Roof Guard which is recommended for that roof. I was surprised to find the reapplication time for this product was 3-5 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has found a product with a longer reapplication time.--Thanks.

Hi RJay,

I use 303. Go to 303 Products, Inc.: 303 Products and read about the product.

Hi Gary, Thanks.

It says its effectiveness will last for 5 years in the bottle, if I can get six months on the roof I'll be happy. How often do you reapply it? How do you apply it? And how much do you use to do your roof?

This product does a good job on my rubber roof. I apply it once a year but we live in a very dry climate. If you live in a wet area it could need it 3 to 4 times a year, but thats true of all the products.

Hi RJay,
I use a spray bottle and terry cloth hand towels. For me this is a get on one's knees task. I spray 303 directly onto the roof and smooth it out with the hand towels.

RJay, I also use 303 protectant on by Brite-tek roof, appears to work well, I do it annually in the spring. I use a garden sprayer and car washing handle that has a cloth thingey on the end. Saves my knee caps from further abuse.

I really don't think Brite-tek needs any additional UV protection. Even the Dicor Care brochure doesn't say that it needs it. It merely offers the Dicor Roof Guard product for us IF you want to use a UV product.

My owners manual says to wash with Murphys oil soap periodically. No other PM necessary.

scratcherky, Welcome to the forum.

That's interesting, I haven't heard that one. I'll keep Murph's in mind the next time I wash my roof but for now I want to apply a UV protection that I can just wipe on. Thanks.

Thank you all for your responses. This is what I've decided to do. Since I already have 303 for the tires and rubber gaskets, I'm going to buy a gallon of it and use it on the roof. I'm going to use a swifter mop and some dry pads to apply it. If that doesn't work I'll attach a microfiber cloth to the swifter. Nothing more to buy except more 303.
