I recently installed the wired version of the Onan EC 30 Genset autostart system. Following the instructions in the Onan install manual and the instructions from several posters from this Forum I finally got it to work the way it should. However it took some time and tinkering. One of the posters instructions was to connect the Freeze connections to and from the basement air thermostat together. (Pins 1 and 3 on the thermostat connector.) Nowhere else do any instructions say this. But the HVAC request won't work unless these wires are shorted. Can anyone tell me why this is so? It just doesn't seem that this should be required but it does. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
My unit is a 2001 Itasca Suncruiser with basement air and a True Air thermostat. All the wire connections were made at the EMS panel in the hall except the Safety connection to the ignition and the ac wires from the transformer connected to the Auto Transfer Switch.
