Try an put as much money away for a year, (that you can do with out) then you will be able to see what you can aford.
I have been R.Ving off and on sence 1989 the M.H. that I have now I have had sence 1997 and I just spent $8,000.00 on just my breaks. front, duels and my tamdum.
The only savings I have is no storage fee because I have been parking it adjacent to my house.
I do not want to discourage you but it is better to have some idea as to what things cost.
You might want to talk to your insurance Co. to get an idea as what it will cost a year even if you do not drive it.
Juat a thought.
P.S. Merry Christmas.

Someone once said owning a boat is a hole in the water that you pour money into, that about "Sums" it up. It is a life style that is either loved or hated. Only you can make that choice.

I'm going to buy a 5th wheel and a truck to pull it. No motorhome. I had someone tell me it costs them 3500 dollars in just tires for a 1997 motorhome.
Thanks everyone for the information.

Someone once said.... Surely you have underestimated that one. Both my dad and I were boaters and we both said it repeatedly. So at least 3 people said it a bunch. LOL til it hurts.
But x 10 on the lifestyle. If you can afford to turn something called "recreational" into a way of life, you're really living. And that's what it's all about for us.

We used to have a boat and boat well at a yacht club. Had to buy the dock space, pay a monthly fee for utilities, pay for the boat, pay for the upkeep (what I couldn't do that is), pay for the boat well upkeep, pay the club fees, plus fuel etc. Luckily it was too big to trailer so no expense there.
MH is much cheaper!!

Pluses and minuses for each RV style. Each to their own.
$3500 for tires over 7 years is 500 annual or about $41/month. My tires will be about $2400; $28/month. Chump change

I have an older coach (1999) but it seems I spend on average about $75 a month on maintenance. Knock on wood nothing major has broke, but little things add up

As they tell you at the luxury dealerships, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Yes, you can budget, but RVs have a way of refusing to cooperate with such reasonable things as a budget.

I said the above a few years ago, before we bought the Magna!! In the first 3 months of ownership of the Magna we spent $25,000 on repairs/maintenance and still need 8 tires and 8 Smartire sensors, something close to $6,000. But part of the cost was due to damage done while at the Cummins shop that they refused to acknowledge they did. And I don't have time/money to take them to court with the DW having cancer.
