2000 Monaco Knight Diesel Pusher, 55,000 miles,Roadmaster Chassis, 5.9 Cummins Engine

Problem: Aluminum radiator- Tubes leaking at header on both ends, top half of radiator.

Cause: may be due to vibration and/or twisting of radiator as motorhome moves. Radiator mounts to vertical supports w/ 4 shoulder bolts and rubber washers. Aluminum susceptable to this type failure.

Suggestions received from radiator repair shop and individuals who have worked on design and installation of large radiators include:
1. Replace with copper construction as can withstand vibration and twisting much better than aluminum.
2.Mount radiator from 3 points instead of 4 to allow to for twisting of mounting frame.

Called Monaco Customer service. Tech had only heard of maybe a couple leaks.

Anyone experience this problem? If so, what's been tried/ done to fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Ken,

We have done three of these for Monaco at our shop. The replacement part is an upgraded unit & mounting hardware.Did you buy an aftermarket insurance with your coach, they should cover it.

That's interesting. Sounds like I need to make another call to Monaco to learn more. Will ask them to check if this VIN has had the upgrade or not in their records.
What does the upgraded unit and mounting hardware look like?
This is my son's coach. He bought it used, but did not purchase after market insurance or warranty.
