I started with the 7700, I think and a few years ago upgraded to the 7720. This unit works pretty well, but sometimes I wonder. When driving through LA on 101 it wanted me to take a different HiWay for some reason and didn't want to tell me why. I didn't and it was fine. Once in Oregon I was on a HiWay and it kept trying to re-route me, but no indication as to why. I found out there was a tunnel in my path. I stopped outside and waited until a large truck when through with no trouble. I later figured I must have had my height set too high. I fixed that. Now my issue is updates. I can download and load the latest updates, but after I disconnect my unit, my MAC laptop crashes and reboots several times. It has done this the last few map updates. My MAC runs fine otherwise. My wife does not trust a GPS in any fashion. Once in South Dakota, the picture on the screen showed a lake and we were on a HiWay... Interesting. In California there have been some improvements made on HiWay 99, (Central Valley). The GPS shows us driving on the side roads or in the fields until we get back on the older section.

Apparently Rand Mc is having docking issues so I haven't been able to update mine again.

Lately when I program in a destination it accepts it but won't hold a zoom level, it returns to a God's Eye view of the region. This really makes it hard to identify streets you are passing. So, I just use the moving map function and rely on my cell phone for specific instructions until RM gets their act together. If the next update doesn't resolve the problem I will probably replace the unit with something else.

Just checked...and our 2 RVND's are still docking perfectly. The Dock recognizes the swap between the units and links-up.

We love our Rand McNally's so much that we use them in the car (changing the vehicle type on the menu).

Safe travels

That zoom thing you mention, there is a changeable setting for that, but I can't remember how. Our MH and RM 7735 hasn't been used since last fall due to DW's auto accident, sustained injuries and subsequent surgeries.
