I have Dometic A&E window awnings. I noticed that the forward edges of the awning fabric on all of my window awnings are starting to sag slightly. The fabric is held in place by a long plastic cord that slides through a lip of the fabric, into a metal channel, which is affixed to the sidewall of the coach. Either the plastic cord has shrunk or the fabric has stretched, because the leading edge of fabric on all of the window awnings has pulled out of the cord, and the existing cord is not long enough to secure the entire lip of fabric any longer.

I am guessing at this point that I must replace all of the plastic cords with ones that are the appropriate length. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, any tips on how the replace the cord without removing the awning?

Thanks!

Craig

I've never been terribly successful at getting the beading to slide out of the topper/awning material not to mention it takes forever. In some cases I have had great success. Another alternative if your material is in really good shape yet is to have someone hold tension off of the roll (1/2 turn), push the 1/4" beading back into the C channel and slightly crimp the C channel so as to prevent it from pulling out again. IF your topper/awning material is really starting to show some age replacing just the material is an extremely simple job to do.
