Rear view camera/monitor replacement
I have a 1995 35' class A and the camera/monitor finally died. I am looking for an easy and inexpensive way to replace the system. I doubt I will find a camera or monitor that will fit the "built -in" areas where the components are now mounted but I will work around that as necessary. Also I'm sure a new video cable will be required and would consider a wireless system if it will transmit through a closed door.
Any ideas about possible solutions/products/sources will be greatly appreciated.

Back up camera
I about to be in same boat. I have a 1995 Newmar and the black and white back up camera monitor screen work when it feels like it. Ive been doing some research on line and in today's tech age there is hundreds to choose from. I'll probably go with a 3 camera color system so I can get views of back and both sides, with camera panning Prices range from 300.00 and up. Your probably right in thinking a new video cable.

5 years ago, I replaced mine with an older version of one of these:
Wireless Backup Camera | TrucknTow.com
I payed $80 at Sam's Club.
I cut the license plate brackets off the camera and mounted it in the original camera location, (and mounted the 7" LED monitor on the face of the dash).
It was/is a clean/easy upgrade from the original B&W camera and CRT/TV "tube type" monitor.

Mine never came with a backup camera so I got one and did it myself prob hour and a half to run the cable back to front in the cabinets there's a trough in there in mine all along the drivers side Had to fish it behind fridge and remove microwave also picked it up on eBay was 160 bux 7 inch color monitor , 45 ft of cable and one camera . Beats hanging out the window while backing . It's really high quality stuff was surprised for the price . Sellers name was 1stsafe http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=221271879688
It has infra red lights on camera looks like daylight through monitor at night but no light comes from camera

I put this in my MH, I filed the sides of my old in-dash B&W monitor hole to make it fit. The color is off along the edge of the screen, The grass on the side of the road looks purple, but other than that it works good. I bought a 66 foot extension cable and ran a new cable under and up the rear cap. I started at the rear cap and pulled the old cable out with the new cable attached.

Trust me you need a longer cable than you think. I used all but about 10 feet of this cable on my 34 ft RV.

Rather than fool with matching up the existing cable or running a new one, I bought a Voyager wireless system from Camping World. Plug N play, and works great on my 40' MH. Entire system was installed and working in 30 minutes, replacing the old camera took the time.

I found this 7" Voyager wireless backup camera on Ebay for $650.
Voyager WVOS713 Digital Wireless Camera Receiver Back Up System | eBay
A 5" is $676 at Camping World
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...p-system/55960
Is it worth $500 and a few hours to run a cable????

I was able to use the existing coax cable and 12Vdc wires when I installed the replacement "Peak7" backup camera and monitor.

Costco $200. 7" color screen with color camera with night vision. and 60' cable. All done and mounted in 1 1/2 hrs. (which included removing the old stuff) Works great. And you can add another camera later, if you want. Can be used for a security camera with 2, and you can plug in a DVD player and watch a movie. .

About 5 years ago I purchased a wireless system on EBay. It was under $200 for an 8" color monitor and camera. It uses the same frequency as a lot of other stuff so their is some interference driving down the road in populated areas. I've not had any issues while backing into a campsite, the picture is clear and constant.

No, the connectors are different. I used new cable and ran it under the M/H along the frame. No big deal. Be sure and buy a cable that is plenty long. My unit was 35' and I used a 50' cable, had very little left, just curled up behind the dash out of sight.
