Can the door latches be taken apart and re-built in the entry doors? The handle on the inside just hangs loose like there are broken springs inside. Makes the door hard to latch closed.

Short answer yes. You might want to go here Hardware, Locks, Handles, Props, Storage and see if they have either parts or a whole lock like yours. Yours should have a manufactures name on it somewhere. Most likely either Bargman or Trimark.

I was able to rebuild the locks today. There are 2 springs inside if you take off the inner part of the lock (bargman L 300 lock) that return the handle to the neutral position. I replaced both springs and cleaned out the old sticky grease. Fresh grease and it works like new.

I'm having the same problem. Where did you source the springs?
David

I found them at a local hardware store, they have several fastener drawers full of them, and I matched them up. They are about an inch long, and a quarter inch across the top. They push the latch mechanism to the neutral position. I just took off the inside of the lock, and they were in front of me. Hope this helps.
